Hardworking, appreciative, and respectful – this is what a student of the month sounds like. Bay Reynolds was nominated by high school faculty members to be the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month.
Reynolds is involved in many things. Some of these things include band, Student Council, Bear Believers, and Interact. Outside of school, she plays the drums at her church and is also a part of the Gift of Life Youth Advisory Council of Southeast Texas.
“Sometimes it gets hard to manage my time because my activities tend to overlap, but I try to spread my time equally,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds gets very busy with all the things she is in, but she gets the chance to meet new people and spend some time with her friends.
“My high school experience has been wonderful, and I have made countless unforgettable memories,” Reynolds said. “I will miss seeing my sister at school every day, as I always enjoy spending time with her.
Reynolds has enjoyed her time at high school and has made many accomplishments.
“I was so surprised and honored to receive the student of the month award,” Reynolds said. “I am so thankful for all the support I have gotten from teachers, family, and friends. They have encouraged and helped me grow.”
Reynolds is so grateful to receive this reward. Along the way she has made many friends and met many new people.
“My favorite part about being in the drumline is the friendships I have made over the years,” Reynolds said. “I have made so many fun and amazing memories that I will never forget.”
Reynolds will miss being part of the drumline, but she is also looking forward to new experiences.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I have either wanted to be an astronaut or a doctor,” Reynolds said. “It turns out that being a doctor is truly what I want to do. Because of personal family experiences, I know the kind of impact a doctor can have on someone’s life. I want to make a positive difference for families during some of their most difficult moments.”
In the future, Reynolds plans to go to the University of Texas at Austin or Baylor University. She plans to get her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and then later go to med school. Reynolds is so thankful for her teachers she could not have done it without them.
“I have some really great teachers here at the high school, and I want to thank them for their kindness and support,” Reynolds said. “Also, I want to thank my family for always being there for me.”
