Sophomore Anthony Phillips was nominated for Bear of the Week by his English II teacher, Leah Ellis. Phillips is involved in engineering and band, which takes up a lot of his time.
Phillips said his biggest role model is his dad.
“He always pushes me to try my best and to be the best person I can be,” Phillips said.
Some of Phillips’ favorite hobbies include tearing apart motors, riding a four wheeler, and practicing his instrument during advisory. His goals for the future include graduating high school, going to college, and becoming an engineer.
Phillips said he considers his greatest accomplishment being a good older brother to his younger sister. His favorite class this year is engineering.
“I get to learn and build stuff people can only imagine,” he said.
If Phillips could give his younger self advice, it would be to keep doing his best and life will get better. His favorite part of going to LCM is all the different classes he can take and how nice the teachers are.
Phillips said he is motivated by the idea that life can get better.
“It motivates me to do my best and keep going,” Phillips said.
According to his English teacher, Leah Ellis, Phillips truly embodies what it means to be a Battlin’ Bear.
“He consistently works hard in class, stays on top of his responsibilities, and treats everyone with kindness and respect,” Ellis said. “His impeccable manners, active engagement, and willingness to help others makes him stand out each day. Anthony is an absolute joy to have as a student, and our school is incredibly fortunate to have him as part of our community.”
