Senior Shayne Pannell was nominated for Bear of the Week by her health science teacher, Tara Parsons. Pannell is involved in HOSA, Student Council, and National Honor Society. Outside of school, she works part-time and has recently been volunteering around her community.
Pannell said her biggest role model is her mom.
“I’ve seen how she shows up for anyone who needs her,” Pannell said.
Some of Pannell’s hobbies include shopping, cooking, and going to the movies. Her goals for the future are to graduate from UT-Austin, attend law school, and hopefully become a lawyer while living in the city. Pannell considers her greatest accomplishment being strong after losing her dad.
This year, Pannell’s favorite class is her medical assistant class because she gets to see Mrs. Parsons. If she could give her younger self advice, it would be to stop taking everything so seriously and to remember to have fun. Pannell said her favorite part about going to LCM is her teachers.
According to Parsons, she can always count on Pannell to brighten her day.
“She always has a smile on her face and impresses me with her work ethic in and out of school,” Parsons said. “We also have a shared love for Taylor Swift, which makes class more fun for us…and not so much for everyone else.”
