Sophomore Avery Standley was nominated as the first Bear of the Week for this school year. Standley is on the cheer and tennis team and is also involved in Interact and HOSA.
Standley’s favorite part about attending LCM is spreading school spirit and being on the sidelines to cheer on the football team. Her favorite class is math because she said it’s her best subject.
Outside of school, Standley does ballet and pointe dancing.
According to Standley, she enjoys fishing, baking, spending time with her family at the lake, and going to concerts. In the future, Standley hopes to become a dietitian, travel, and be happy.
Standley said her biggest role model in her life is her mom because she’s encouraging to her family and others.
If Standley could give herself younger self advice, she would tell herself to surround herself with people that love, encourage, and help her grow as a person.
Standley said the thing that motivates her to keep going every day is striving to be a better person then she was the day before.
According to teacher Brooke Deets, Standley is a driven student and athlete.
“She works really hard to achieve her goals,” Deets said. “I was happy that I had the opportunity to teach her last year and hear about all the activities she participated and excelled in.”
