Junior Matthew Oldbury is on the football team and is also a member of National Honor Society. Outside of school, he is heavily involved in church, weightlifting and working for his parent’s business.
Oldbury said his biggest role model is Jesus Christ because He teaches with love and compassion. According to Oldbury, his favorite things to do are weightlifting, pickleball, listening to music, and gaming.
Oldbury’s goals for the future are to go to college and obtain an engineering degree.
According to Oldbury, he considerers his greatest accomplishment to be maintaining a balance between athletics and academics. His favorite class this year is engineering because they use engineering concepts to build hands-on projects, like gliders and rockets.
Some advice that Oldbury would give to his younger self is to be genuine and don’t be scared to try new things.
Oldbury said his favorite thing about going to LCM is having classes with teachers who care about him and the other students and that make his classes fun.
Something that motivates Oldbury to keep going on a daily basis is knowing that there will always be something funny to laugh about.
According to one of Oldbury’s coaches, Edward Dyer, he has great leadership skills on and off the field.
“He is a very positive and hard-working student athlete and very responsible, as well as a good communicator,” Dyer said. “I think he can become a good, effective leader that the world needs.”
