The UIL Academics teams competed at the Regional meet this past Saturday, April 26 at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Eight students placed high enough to advance to the State meet held at University of Texas at Austin May 19-20.

The computer science team placed first overall and will compete at State. Individual results were:

1st – Raymond Arrington

2nd – Andrew Boudreaux

3rd – Marshall Vaught

5th – Wyatt Wilson

The journalism team also placed first overall and will send three students to the State meet. Individual results were:

Feature writing: Liberty Trupke – 1st (State qualifier)

Editorial writing: Taylor Huckaby – 1st (State qualifier), Jannath Bhohani – 3rd (State qualifier), Laura Hughes – 4th

News writing: Liberty Trupke – 4th

Headline writing: Annabelle Claybar – 5th

The calculator applications team placed second overall. The team consisted of: Calie Brones (3rd – State qualifier), Wyatt Wilson, Santiago Ramirez Contreras, and Jannath Bhojani.
