Junior Allie Broussard recently started her own side business – making and selling banquet bows.
Broussard got her first embroidering machine for Christmas last year and first started making the banquet bows in March 2026.
“I started making banquet bows because I was interested and enjoyed using my embroidery machine, then I saw some bows on Pinterest and became inspired,” Broussard said. “I figured I could make some good money while doing something I liked a lot.”
Broussard’s bows are $20 each. Her bows are made of silk ribbon and offers them in any color.
“It really depends on the design for how long it takes to make a bow,” Broussard said. “Most designs take from 10 to 30 minutes, then I do it on the other side. In total it takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Most of the time spent watching the machine embroider.”
For those who want to buy a bow from Broussard, they can message her on her Facebook @Alliebroussard to order one. Making a bow is a lengthy process, but it is a good hobby to start.
“I would recommend embroidery as a hobby,” Broussard said. “Sometimes it is frustrating when errors happen, but I always try my best to fix them. It is an expensive hobby to start, but it is so worth it,” Broussard said.
