Sophomore Morgan Haynes is a very involved student. Haynes is involved in Drama Club, theatre and the Tabletop Gaming Club. In Drama Club and theatre, she makes props, sets designs and occasionally acts. She is a founding member of the Tabletop Gaming Club and runs a section in it. Outside of school, she practices Taekwondo, which she is a third-degree black belt in.
Haynes’ biggest role model is her Taekwondo instructor, Travis Allen; she said she hopes to become someone like him one day. Outside of doing Taekwondo, Haynes has many other interests and hobbies. She likes reading, crocheting, writing, swimming, boating, dancing, and crafting.
Hanyes considers her biggest accomplishment to be getting her black belt and said it was a monumental part of her life. Her goal for the future is to become an anesthesiologist. She hopes to help people and make a lot of money in this profession.
Her favorite class this year is theatre; she has never felt more included in any other class, and she never stops having fun in there. Theatre is also her favorite part about attending LCM.
According to Haynes, the advice she would give to her younger self is that there were always signs and to not fool yourself. She also would tell herself to never be afraid, and joining Tiger Rock would change her life.
A daily motivation in Haynes’s life is a quote that a friend told her before a contest: “Never stop going, even when your voice is giving out, even if your brain is blank, and even when your body is numb. The day you give up is the day you lose, and you never lose.”
According to Haynes’ culinary arts teacher Rochelle Briggs, she is a student whose presence in the classroom is invaluable.
“She always goes out of her way to lend a helping hand to her peers,” Briggs said. “She is always smiling and laughing, and she is just a joy to be around.”
