Kim Levens helps her senior cosmetology students get sized for their uniforms.

Kim Levens is the Cosmetology teacher and helps students learn the art of hairstyling, nails, and much more. Once students complete her program and graduate high school, she helps them earn their certification in Cosmetology so they can go straight into their careers. This is what she had to say about her job and her life outside of the teaching world.

When you were in high school, what activities did you participate in?

“I was in band, tennis, student council, and cosmetology in high school.”

What is your dream job, other than teaching cosmetology?

“Salon because I love hair, skin, and nail industry.”

How did you decide to become a cosmetology teacher?

“My mom, sister, and aunts were all hair dressers. My other sister is a teacher. I just combined them both.”

Where would you go if you won a free vacation and what would you do there?

“I would go to some place tropical and sit on the beach and do nothing.”

If you won a million dollars, what would you spend it on?

“I would go on my vacation.”

If  you were stranded on an abandoned island and could bring three things, what would you bring and why?

“I would bring food and water in order to survive and I would want my family to be there.”

Do you enjoy doing hair shows? What are they for?

“The purpose of hair shows to to learn about the latest trends. I don’t put them on, I go to them and bring my girls.”

What are you hobbies outside of school?

“Shopping and being a taxi for my kids.”

Since you do lots of peoples’ hair, who does your hair?

“My students now and past students. If I don’t want to pay, I will go to my mom.”

What is the worst hair style you’ve ever had to fix?

“When a person goes black and wants to go back blonde.”
