Kayla LeBlanc and Audrey Snipes will be the cheer sponsors for next year.

LCM will be getting two new cheerleading sponsors for the 2014-15 school year: English teacher Aubree Snipes and Biology teacher Kayla Leblanc. Both teachers already have big ideas for next year and are ready to get started.

“Ms. Leblanc and I have lots of plans for next year,” Snipes said. “We both have extensive background in competitive cheerleading and are making plans to implement competition as a focus of the LC-M cheer squad. We have plans to increase school spirit and involve the student body, as well as the community, in athletic events. We plan to get to know the girls this summer, have lots of fun, and cheer on all LC-M sports.”

Both sponsors said that cheerleading sets the tone for school spirit and gives all players motivation.

“LCM cheer is a great program that has the opportunity to impact the student body and the community in a powerful way,” Snipes said. “The role of building and upholding school spirit is given to cheerleaders and I was excited for the opportunity to work with the cheer squad to make sure LC-M is the best.”

According to Leblanc, to be a cheer sponsor, you have to be enthusiastic, have a lot of energy and a passion for cheerleading.

“It is their (cheerleaders) job to lead the crowd in chants and get fans excited when big plays happen or to keep spirits up when things aren’t looking so good,” Leblanc said. “It is the cheerleader’s job to get students involved and encourage the student body to have pride in their school and support LC-M sports.”

Leblanc and Snipes will officially take over the positions at cheerleading tryouts, which will be held on March 18.

“LC-M cheerleaders have so much potential,” Leblanc said. “My plan is to give the girls opportunities to show off their skills and coach them to be the absolute best they can be.”
