The annual Winter Formal will be held Jan. 17 from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. The doors will lock at 9:15 and once a student leaves, they will not be allowed to return. Students will be meeting in the cafeteria of the school and will remain there for the entirety of the dance and will not be permitted to roam around the rest of the school during these hours.
The tickets will go on sale for $20 on Thursday, Dec. 19 and will remain at that price until Christmas break ends. When school returns on Jan. 6, the price will be $25 and then will be $30 at the front entrance to the dance. To buy the tickets, students may stop by the nurse’s office.
There is no theme for winter formal except to dress up nicely. Girls can wear strapless dresses, short dresses that come to fingertips, and backless dresses if everything is covered with solid material. Two-piece dresses are allowed as long as there are not more than 1.5 inches of stomach exposed. Boys are expected to dress up and look nice, in either nice jeans and a button-down shirts or a suit and tie.
The dance will provide activities such as the crowning of the king and queen at the end of the night, and several photo booths. There will also possibly be a 360-video booth from the year prior, but nothing on that is confirmed as of yet. The dance will have a DJ, and students will be able to submit suggestions before the dance, as well as during the dance but only if time allows. There will be no food, only water priced at one dollar.
All high school students are allowed to come as well as guests that are not older than 20. To bring a friend from another school as your date you must pick up the guest form in the nurse’s office to have filled out and signed off on by the administrator at their school. No junior high students will be allowed to join the dance.
All students should be on their best behavior as the dance is on campus. Being able to join the dance is a privilege not a right; discipline issues will not be tolerated by the staff working. If needed, parents will be called if students misbehave.
