When the trees begin to lose their leaves, the weather gets colder, and people begin putting up Christmas decor, the LCM Education Foundation is hosting the 12th annual Beary Merry Market at LCM High School.
The Beary Merry Market is a Christmas market that has been hosted by the LCM Education Foundation since 2013. There are many different small businesses that set up at the market and offer their handmade products. These products range from homemade baked goods, candy, clothing, home decor, hand-crafted wooden products, and many more items. Around 800 people attend the market every year.
The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 1. The cost to enter the market is $5 per person. T-shirts and socks were on preorder for $15, with the deadline to preorder ending on Oct. 16. Entry to the market is free for people that are wearing the shirt. Those who missed the preorder deadline can buy T-shirts and socks at the market.
To set up a booth at the Beary Merry Market, there is a fee of $50 for a 10×10 space. It costs an extra $50 for an additional 10×10 booth space. Access to electrical power costs $10, and a 6-inch rectangle table costs $20. All open vendor spaces have been filled as of Oct. 27. Each vendor must also donate an item to the Silent Auction. Vendor set up is in the afternoon on Oct. 31, and in the morning before the event on Nov. 1.
There are many different activities held during the time of the Beary Merry Market, so there is no shortage of things to do. In the cafeteria, LCM Choir will be joined by MVE and MMS Choir in singing Christmas carols on stage. Outside of the Bear Cave gym, there will be a Whataburger truck with fun activities and prizes. Storytime with Mrs. Claus is a great activity for kids where Mrs. Claus will read Christmas stories and provide cookies and milk for $10. Kids can also take pictures with Santa Claus for $5. There is also a silent auction that will be held throughout the event with lots of great items to bid on.
The Beary Merry Market is a great opportunity for locals to learn about small businesses and discover their handmade goods. There is something for everyone at this market, and it is not one to miss. All profits from the Beary Merry Market will go to the LCM Education Foundation to fund educational resources and support LCM teachers, students and staff.
