The Stark Reading Contest is a speaking competition held locally by the Stark Foundation. Students from all high schools in the area can compete in different categories and different levels. The foundation offers prizes as well as scholarships for the winners.
The contest parts into two categories Declamation which involves speeches, and Interpretive Reading which is like UIL Pros and Poetry.
Along with these two categories, students also compete at two separate levels, school and county finals. School finals, the first-place winner of each category receives a $2,500 scholarship. The second-place winner receives a $2,000 scholarship. At the county level, first place receives a $6,500 scholarship, while second place receives a $3,500 scholarship.
