LCM Soccer has had a successful season this year. They are now working harder than ever to stay in the playoffs. They have surpassed the number of wins from last year.
“I know fatigue is starting to settle in for everyone, but this is where champions are created,” head soccer coach Chris Bradford said. “We talk a lot about physical and mental endurance. The teams that move on in March are the ones who can continue to fight through the challenges and outwork the competition when it hurts the most. We aren’t just happy to be here, we’re ready to work.”
The teams will be practicing over spring break to continue preparing for the playoffs.
“Consistency is everything when you’re trying to be great; for me, that means showing up, going to practice, advisory, and focusing on the small things,” sophomore Uzziel Nava Perez said. “I work on my passion and conditioning, so I don’t let the guys sown when it comes to the game being tight.”
Senior Jada Montagne said they have spent the whole season preparing for the playoffs. She said that before each game they get letters from their parents to read on the bus ride there.
“I keep myself motivated by looking at my teammates and being reminded that it’s my last season with some of my favorite people,” Montagne said. “They encourage me to stay positive and motivated.”
While this season has been challenging, Nava Perez said that this kind of pressure can allow you to show what you are really made of.
“My favorite part of this season is the win or go home energy,” Nava Perez said. “It forces us to play for each other and stay locked in for all 80 minutes.”
Nava Perez said that sports have always been a way to teach you about life before you even realize it.
“The final score matters, but the person you become along the way stays with you forever,” Nava Perez said. “I just want to say how greatful I am for this team. No matter what happens in the playoffs. We did this together as a family.”
