As the second semester begins, so do spring sports. The girls’ and boys’ soccer season has begun. All teams are coached by Christopher Bradford. The next home game for the girls is Jan. 20 and the boys is Jan. 27.
“Tryouts were the first two days that soccer was allowed to have after school practice,” Bradford said. “The tryouts are used to locate any players that may have been missed in the beginning of the school year. I evaluate players year-round.”
Bradford said both the girls’ and boys’ teams will play 21 games this season. He said this season has been busier than last year.
“Practice has been a new challenge leading and juggling all four teams with the little space, but it has been smoothing out,” Bradford said. “The teams are moving in the right direction, and practice is every day.”
Bradford hopes that everyone grows into responsible and mature people. If he could give advice to someone who wants to play soccer, he would tell them they need to be hard-working and ready to learn.
“Keep learning from mistakes and never give up when things get tough.” Junior Taylor Castaneda said. “Soccer is not just kicking the ball. It demands speed, quick decision-making, and teamwork.”
