Junior Trey Guillory has many goals for this track season.

Junior Trey Guillory has gotten a running start into this year’s track season. As a member of the Bear Track team this season, he participates in the 4×100 meter relay, the triple jump, 200-meter dash and the 4×400 relay.

Guillory said in order to prepare himself for each meet, he eats a hearty breakfast and eats a little less lunch to make sure he has enough energy to get him through the night.

He has been running track since he was in the 6th grade and said he hopes to make it to State in triple jump this year. Even though he is involved in so many different events, he does not have a problem handling the pressure.

“I stay motivated because it makes me faster and keeps me in shape,” Guillory said.

It makes me faster and keeps me in shape.

According to Guillory, he began running to make himself faster and prepare for football season. One of his favorite memories is from his 8th grade year when he came in first place for the first time at a meet. He will next compete in the Bridge City meet on Thursday, March 10.

“I would like to thank the Bear Facts online newspaper for selecting me as the athlete of the week among the other students,” Guillory said.
