As the end to the fall semester grows closer, winter sports are beginning to hold tryouts for their upcoming seasons. Boys basketball tryouts for all freshmen will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Nov. 8 and from 8-9 a.m. on Nov. 9. Junior varsity and varsity tryouts will be held the first Monday following the end of football season from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Athletes who are trying out for basketball must be passing all classes and must provide their own workout clothes and shoes for tryouts. Head coach Brad Jeffcoat recently hosted a parent meeting in the gym to go over schedules and other procedures. For more information, please email him at [email protected].

Those who are interested in trying out for Lady Bear Basketball may email Coach Eddie Michalko at [email protected].

Lady Bear Soccer is also gearing up for the new season and will be holding tryouts Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 from 3-5 p.m. Tryouts will begin at the high school track and athletes need to be ready and dressed to begin by 3:15 p.m. Athletes trying out need to bring tennis shoes; cleats are not required until the teams are announced.

Parents may pick up their athletes at the practice field located at the back of the school behind the tennis courts at 5 p.m. Rosters will be posted before school the morning of Dec. 1 on the whiteboard in the locker room.

Upon making a team, parents and athletes will be required to attend a mandatory meeting on Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. Practices will be held every day after school until scrimmages begin on Dec. 10. Games will begin on Jan. 3. Scrimmages and games are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays depending on availability of teams to play and officials. Tournaments are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
