Senior places fourth at State golf tournament
Senior Lauren Cox recently placed fourth at the State Golf tournament after making an appearance at the tournament for the third year in a row.
Both Cox and her coach, Bart Williams, said placing fourth was a major sense of accomplishment. Cox said even though all of her puts did not fall, she feels she hit her drives well and her iron was very accurate.
According to Cox, she put in a ton of work in order to get to the State tournament. She practices five days a week and said she looks forward to going to the golf course every day.
“Overcoming new obstacles, learning more about the game and myself and seeing improvement motives me to go out and practice what I love doing,” she said.
Cox said she usually does not get too nervous before a big tournament – she instead feels a sense of excitement and spending more time on the putting green helps to ease her nerves. This senior will soon leave behind her high school golf career and will continue playing golf at the collegiate level.
“I hope that I have left a good legacy for the Lady Bear Golf team and I hope that it will attract more people to the to the game,” Cox said.
