Honey Bear Tryouts Held Next Week

Honey Bear tryouts will be held next week, March 3-7 at the high school gym. Those who are trying out need to wear jazz pants and a leotard or a black unitard. This year’s junior officers will be teaching a dance that the participants must learn for the day of actual tryouts.

“They will be taught a routine which has jazz moves, Pom moves, kicks and a split,” Honey Bear sponsor Deann Lumpkin said. “They will be judged on all these aspects, along with technigue, projection, and appearance.”

After the tryouts, the results will be posted an hour after the last group performs. Once the squad is chosen, the dancers won’t meet again to practice until July.

For those trying out for the squad for the first time, Lumpkin said they need to be able to dance, kick, and have their splits. If they have any further questions, they can see her or any of the veteran Honey Bear members.
