Battlin’ Bear Basesball looks to win

Despite losing a few key players since last year, the Bear Baseball team is determined to have a successful season and advance to playoffs.

So far this spring season, the Bears have won more than half of the 12 games they have played. Out of those seven wins, perhaps one of the most memorable was playing against Kountze when the team ten run ruled in only five innings.

“We are off to a rough start in district, but hope to fight our way back into the race as we move forward,” head coach Steve Griffith said.

According to Griff, the top hitters so far this season are seniors Vinny Hale and Grant White, with batting averages on the season as .333 and .325, respectively. Pitchers Mitchell Lee and Slade Green each hold ERAs close to 2, while Lee currently leads the team with a total of five homeruns.

“All off season we did weight training and conditioning and lots of hitting,” sophomore Michael Lee said.

The Bears will face off against the WOS Mustangs in another district game tonight at 6 p.m.
