Program Encourages Students to Graduate

Promise to graduate. Get a free taco.

Graduate for Mas is a program that encourages students to make an account with GraduateforMas.com and promise to graduate and in return, they get a free taco coupon from Taco Bell. Students can also text 335577 #Grad4Mas, then fill out the account information and make the promise. Graduate for Mas is also on Twitter and Facebook at Getschooled.

After students have made the account, there is the option for them to watch videos, play games, listen to music, and more. Each time they access their account and interact with the programs, they earn individual points which accrue to be turned in at the “store” for individual prizes. The number of points for each activity is posted. Additionally, there are “shout outs” form Grad 4 Mas which offer opportunities for scholarships, and popular merchandise (Nike, Roshes, Kobes, hoodies, etc.)

Students can qualify to win by Making the Promise and engaging in the activities. There are opportunities throughout the year offered via email, Twitter and Instagram.

“Recently there was a scholarship opportunity and students just had to send in a video explaining their dream,” LCM counselor Deborah Rogers said. “Winners had their dream funded. We had a student last year, Tori Crosson, who won a $50 grant for making someone smile. She contributed her grant to Team Force on campus.”

On the website, there is valuable information about college application, financial aid, job interviewing, and resume writing in a fun, easy to access format. There are fashion videos about with job interviewing tips and so much more.

“This program is an important way to help students focus on their future,” Rogers said. “Students who can see themselves graduating and going into a career more often make it!”
