This past Saturday, members of the LCM Battlin’ Bear Band competed against other percussion sections from Texas and Louisiana in the third annual Golf Coast Classic, hosted by Lamar, and the pit/front ensemble brought home the trophy for first place in 4A.

“It was very rewarding to receive that trophy,” senior pit captain Rebecca Brown said. “We’ve worked extremely hard, and our time and dedication paid off.”

The pit is led under the direction of Brown and senior first lieutenant Harley Schiesler. Their job is to lead the pit when the directors aren’t present. While they are the designated leaders, Brown said many other pit members have stepped up as leaders.

“Autumn Rendall, Mariah Blair, and Luke Marshall have been leaders this year,” Brown said. “They are always willing to help other and work to make the section the best that it can be.”

The percussion director, Jesse Winecoff, helped the pit reach the success that they have this marching season.

“Mr. Winecoff fits in very well with our group and he has helped us tremendously,” Brown said.
