The annual LCM Battlin’ Bear Band 5K Zombie Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Claiborne Park in Orange. This annual event, which boasts a car show and a zombie-themed 5K, is sponsored by the LCM Band Boosters.

Check-in for the 5K begins at 8 a.m. and the race will start at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating may register at www.active.com and search for “LCM Band.” The car show will last from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will cost $2 for spectators and $10 for participants.

“We are hoping that the 1K for the kids and the car show will bring out the whole family,” LCM Band Boosters Vice President Thomas Martin said. “We have asked that there be no scary costumes since we hope little ones will be there.”

There will be a live DJ at the event, as well as plenty of Halloween candy for the kids. Spectators will be able to vote on their favorite car in the car show and prizes will be awarded to the best overall cars.

The LCM Band Boosters have seen much success from this event in the past and are hoping for another great turnout this year.

“All the proceeds from the event will go to the LCM Band Program,” Martin said. “The funds will be used for various needs of the band program that the District budget money does not cover.”

According to Martin, the Band Boosters has been able to provide many necessities such as new costumes, flags, props and much more due to the proceeds from this event and other fundraisers throughout the year.

“We are hoping the band has the opportunity to go to State Marching Contest again next year, so we want to make sure we have the funds for the extra trips,” he said. “Our band program is a successful program that has been around for decades now. The band program has always had great support from the school district. However, without our band boosters and band supporters, the success this band program has had over the years, would not have been possible.”
