The Lady Bears took the win in their latest game against the Bridge City Cardinals this past Tuesday night. LCM dominated the Lady Cardinals in three sets, 25-23 25-23 27-25, and improves to a 2-2 district record.

In the third set, the Lady Cardinals were up 24-16, but senior Alexis Cox had eight serves in a row and tied up the game at 24-24.

“Coming back in the third set, when it was game point for the Cardinals took faith from every person on the team,” senior Jordyn West said. “It showed that we fought our hardest and didn’t worry about the scoreboard, and the end it paid off.”

Despite 15 kills by Bridge City’s Madison Caraway, The Lady Bears were able to rally together and keep the score right where they needed it to be.

Junior Madison Taggart and sophomore Kaitlin Avery consistently led the Lady Bears with seven kills a piece.

According to West, another highlight of the game was when one of the players shanked a pass and Avery hustled out of bounds to save it at the last minute. Then senior Maddie Frey returned the ball back to the opponents’ side and the the Lady Bears were able to keep the play going.

“It felt so amazing beating Bridge City, and turning our season around,” West said. “It feels like we’re back on track to playoffs.”

The Lady Bears have a bye this Friday, but will be playing next Tuesday night at Silsbee for another intense district contest.
