This Thursday, seniors Ethan Reed and Marvis Brown will head to Austin to compete at the State Track Meet.

Both students have played football and participated in track all four years of high school, working with fortitude to complete their goals while doing what they love. This year, they have been led by head boys track coach Chris Pachuca.

“Working with track is so fun,” Pachuca said. “We have kids that love being out there and work hard.”

Both seniors are no strangers to success, as Reed advanced to the State meet last year in Discus and Shotput and brought home the bronze medal in Discus. Brown has also placed in the top three at numerous District and Regional meets. Advancing to the State meet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that not many students get to experience.

“I hope they both bring home medals in both the shot put and the discus,” Pachuca said.

Reed and Brown are both excited to go and have been practicing and perfecting their throwing techniques.

“The one thing that I would tell them is they have a great chance to do something special,” Pachuca said. “There are lots of athletes sitting at home that could not make it to State. So, enjoy the moment and make the most of it.”
