Luke LeBlanc is an involved student on and off campus. He is in baseball, Interact, Bear Believers, his youth group, men’s Bible study, and the children’s ministry. When LeBlanc is not busy with these activities, he likes to spend time with his family, duck hunting with his dad and grandpa, or watching an Astros game.
LeBlanc plans to be a surgical technologist in the future, as well as own a lot of land to hunt and fish on. His biggest motivator is the Astros’ second baseman, Jose Altuve. He said his dad is his role model and he would like to be like him when he grows up. He lives by the quote, “The best success is to live your life the way God wants you to.”
Many may not know this, but LeBlanc loves to learn about history, especially World War 1. He hopes to one day travel to Europe and see all the historical sights. His favorite class this year is Therapedic Health. According to LeBlanc, he likes to learn about challenges he will face in the medical field.
“Luke is all around a great person,” health science teacher Tara Parsons said. “He is kind, respectful, and hardworking.”
According to LeBlanc’s baseball coach Hunter Hagler, he is always looking to be a helping hand.
“Luke is the salt of the Earth,” Hagler said. “He is one of the best student athletes I have ever had the pleasure to be around. It is students like Luke that make this profession one of the most gratifying to be a part of. Any coach or player would be proud to claim Luke as one of their own, and this is evident to me because of the joy I saw on all their faces when Luke was told he had won Bear of the Week.”
LeBlanc not only stands out to his coach as a deserving student, but his baseball teammates had nothing but good things to say about him.
“Luke always has a positive mood about everything and when I’m around him he makes me a better person,” junior Parker Seago said. “Luke always has a smile on his face, no matter what. Everybody loves Luke, and there are plenty more amazing things to say about him.”
According to sophomore Clay Raney, LeBlanc is a great friend.
“He’s always looking to encourage people, always wants to help, and always has a positive attitude no matter what.”
Junior Karson Potter said LeBlanc is an outstanding person who gives his best effort in everything that he does, whether it be baseball, school, or extracurricular activities.
“He does whatever Coach asks him to do, no matter when it is,” Potter said. “He’s a kind, loving and selfless person who will go out of his way to make sure the people around him are okay. He has a big heart for the game of baseball. He’s going to cheer on other people whether he’s on the field or not. That’s just who Luke is. Luke is a role model and a leader and it’s no surprise that he got this award. I’m proud of who Luke is and who he is becoming.”
Junior Landon Richards said LeBlanc is an all-around team player and puts the team first in anything that he does.
“You can always count on him to do anything you need him to do,” Richards said. “He works hard and is positive every single day. He is very outgoing, caring, and everyone loves him. He is one guy that you can always count on and trust. This is why Luke deserves to be Bear of the Week.”
According to senior Brice Frenzel, LeBlanc is the most honest and respectful person he knows.
“He never complains and always does the right thing,” Frenzel said. “He’s always working to be better, whether it be baseball, school work, and anything outside of school. He is the most wholesome person that I have ever met. Not to mention, he is the best duck hunter in the whole 409. He 100% deserves to be Bear of the Week. Luke deserves all the good things coming his way because there will be a lot of great thing that this guy does.”
Junior Ethan Fry said LeBlanc is an amazing person who always will be there for the team, whether it is on or off the field.
“You can always count on him to be there and do his job,” Fry said. “He will go out of his way to help anyone who needs it. He gives 110% on everything he does, whether it be baseball, school, duck hunting, and everything he does is his best. He deserves this award more than anyone that I know. He deserves everything good that comes his way because he is the best person I know.”
Junior Keaton Jones said LeBlanc is always uplifting and positive, and sophomore Jake Raney said LeBlanc is the most respectful, kindhearted guy that he knows.
“He makes everyone around him want to be a better person,” Raney said. “He’s never complaining, and he gives you his best effort every day. When it comes to Luke, I can ask him anything or talk to him about anything because Luke is the type of person you can count on and trust. Luke deserves this award more than anyone I know.”
