Junior Abigayle Welch is the current lieutenant and future co-captain of Color Guard. She also is a part of many other school activities such as Interact, NHS, and Bear Believers. In her free time, she loves to read and practice her dances in Guard.

From her closest friends and family to her previous and current teachers, Welch cannot list all the many people who have inspired her and taught her so much, building her up to be a better person and stronger Christian.

Her favorite quote is, “Don’t shine so others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see Him,” by C. S. Lewis.

Welch strives to graduate in the top 10% of her class, go to college, and graduate to continue using her gifts to live her life for Christ and glorify God in all that she does.

“I’ve learned to find joy in everything I do and to always work hard no matter what I’m working towards,” Welch said.

Her parents motivate her the most to work hard at everything she pursues.

“I never want to let myself or others down, so I make sure and always put 110% into everything,” Welch said.

An accomplishment she is most proud of is being named Guard lieutenant last year, earning her spot as captain for the upcoming year, and winning scholarship money in the Stark Reading Contest.

“Abigayle is a ray of sunshine,” activities director Stacey Smith said. “She is always smiling and a source of positive energy with everyone she comes in contact with at school. She is also an outstanding color guard performer. I appreciate her consistent positivity.”
