Lady Soccer has advanced to round four of the playoffs after defeating Sealy last Friday, 3-0. Their next game will be against the Lorena Lady Leopards at 11 a.m. this Friday at Legacy Stadium in Katy.

“The girls have risen to every challenge and are laser focused to get the job done to stay alive in the playoffs,” soccer Coach Lauren Martin said. “I am extremely proud of their effort every day at practice and how they prepare for the next opponent. This is a very driven and determined group that doesn’t stop at anything.”

So far, the team has beat Huffman Hargrave 8-2, Houston Furr 9-0, and Sealy 3-0. Martin said this is one of maybe two times that the program has advanced this far into the playoffs.

“The upperclassmen that we have really take the underclassmen under their wings and offer them encouragement,” Martin said. “Their leadership has really helped them grow together as a team this season on and off the field.”

This is Martin’s fifth year coaching high school soccer. She said being a part of something like that is super special and very exciting.

“The only thing that matters when the team steps on the field is what they are going to do on the field; the rest of the world can stop for those 80 minutes,” Martin said. “For those 80 minutes, they need to soak up every detail because they only get so many games each season.”

Martin said her advice to her team is to “keep working hard and never give up.” She wants the team to continue setting goals for themselves and working to achieve them.

“The hope is that we will play together, have fun, and get the win so we can advance to the next round,” Martin said. “We have a lot of potential and it would be awesome to make it to the fifth round.”
