Lady Bear Soccer started the night off Tuesday by celebrating their teachers at Teacher Appreciation Night and continued the celebration by defeating the Silsbee Lady Tigers in true team fashion. The Bears jumped to a quick lead early in the match and never let go.

Solid performances by goal keepers Shayne Pannell and Sarah Hormell kept the Bears out of trouble in the box. The back line for the Lady Bears saw familiar and new faces, all of which held it down and let the offense go to work. Eight Bears got in on the scoring frenzy for a 12-1 win.

Stats on the night included the following:

Annabelle Fisher – 4 goals and 1 assist

Taylor Bull – 2 goals and 5 assists

Maya Meadows – 1 goal and 1 assist

Mallory Russell – 1 goal and 1 assist

Mariah Ammons – 1 goal

Jada Montagne – 1 goal

Dylan Braxton – 1 goal

Mallory Dollar – 1 goal

Caitlyn Long – 1 assist

The Lady Bears are now 10-5-1 on the year and 6-2 in district. Their next match will be at home on Feb. 24 against Vidor with varsity at 5 p.m. and JV following at 7 p.m.

Coach Lauren Martin would also like to congratulate seniors Mariah Ammons, Annabelle Fisher, and Sarah Hormell on receiving TASCO Academic All-State awards.
