UIL Academics places second at Sabine Pass

The Computer Science team placed first at the Sabine Pass meet on Saturday.

The UIL Academics teams competed at the Shark Meat Invitational in Sabine Pass on Saturday, Jan. 14. This was the second UIL invitational meet of the year and the school placed second overall, right behind Barbers Hill.

The Computer Science team placed first and the journalism team, made up of sole competitor Rayna Christy, placed second.

The following students placed individually:

Copy Editing: Rayna Christy – 2nd

News Writing: Rayna Christy – 2nd

Feature Writing: Rayna Christy – 4th

Editorial Writing: Rayna Christy – 1st

Headline Writing: Rayna Christy – 3rd

Persuasive Speaking: Madison McGuire – 3rd

Computer Science: Raymond Arrington – 2nd, Ryan Foreman – 3rd, Aiden Corbin – 4th, Nick Young – 5th, William Rodgers – 6th

The teams will return to action when they compete in Nederland on Jan. 28.
