Bear of the Week: Valencia Allen
November 20, 2022
Junior Valencia Allen is involved in Grizzly Crew, Chamber Choir, Student Council, Interact, National Honor Society, Health Occupation Students of America, Yearbook, and UIL Journalism.
Her future goals are to graduate high school with honors, then start her journey to become an anesthesiologist. Her mom is her biggest inspiration because she lets nothing get in her way to success.
A quote she likes to live by is, “You can accomplish anything. The only limits are the ones you create in your head.”
According to Allen, her grandfather is also a huge motivator for her.
“He pushes me to always give my best, and he lets me know I can do anything I put my mind to,” she said.
Allen said as she goes through her junior year, she has learned not to rush high school and to enjoy the moment.
“A part of you may feel like you’re ready to leave, but when it’s all over, those moments will turn into memories,” she said.
According to journalism teacher Lindsey Fruge, Allen deserves to be Bear of the Week based on her hard work and commitment to activities outside of school.
“Last Friday, Valencia spent her night cheering on our football team at their playoff game as part of the Grizzly Crew and didn’t get home until the middle of the night,” Fruge said. “She still woke up early the next day to compete at our first UIL invitational meet and went on to place third in news writing. This perfectly sums up the kind of student Valencia she is. She is an overachiever in every sense of the word, and I can always count on her to show up and get the job done. She is also just a joy to be around and is always polite and respectful. Valencia is an all-around great student and deserves this recognition.”
