Senior Alexis Chisum can be seen sporting the mascot uniform and then marching with the band on Friday nights.

Senior Alexis Chisum is one of the mascots for the Battin’ Bears, and she plays the mellophone and French horn in the Battlin’ Bear Band. She is also involved in powerlifting, Key Club, Interact, HOSA, and National Honor Society.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, drawing, playing video games, and being a menace to her loved ones. In the future, she wants to find something she loves to do as a career, and she also wants to travel the world.

She considers herself to be her biggest inspiration.

“I’m a little crazy and will procrastinate, but at the end of the day, all I have is myself,” Chisum said. “If I don’t work hard for myself, no one else will.”

She is also motivated by her fellow band members, mascot partners, and friends.

“My parents also encourage growth and success,” she said. “However, my brother is my main motivation. I want to set a good example for him to follow.”

Chisum has had several accomplishments since she has been in high school. She works hard to stay in the top ten percent of her class and she is a section leader in band. She is also a 5-time All-American mascot and was voted the best local mascot in Orange County.

She wants to encourage her peers to support each other.

“Enjoy high school while it lasts,” she said. “Have fun. It’ll be over before you know it.”
