The Bear Varsity Soccer team is off to a winning start with a 3-0-1 record. They are currently in first place in district, as they head into another district match-up against Bridge City tonight.

Their most recent win was over Lumberton Tuesday night, 3-2. David Jordan scored all three goals for the Bears. According to Jordan, one of the team’s goals for the season is to definitely make playoffs.

“If we work hard, we can for sure be first place in district,” Jordan said. “We are doing okay; we need to improve in some aspects, but right now we are first and I’m proud.”

According to Lucas Wright, junior varsity captain, the season is still early and the team has a lot left to accomplish.

“So far our season has gone great, but we are not satisfied yet,” he said.

Sophomore Richard Perez, who plays center midfield, said the team has been working hard.

“We have been dedicated since the start of the season,” he said. “We are looking to continue our journey until we are satisfied.”

The Bears will play at 7 p.m. tonight at the WOS stadium against the Bridge City Cardinals.
