Choir concert to be held tonight

Tonight the LCM choir will hold its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Each choir will sing two songs each and then all of the choirs will be combined to complete the concert. The seniors have also chosen a song to perform together and a slideshow of the Class of 2018 will be shown.

”I want this concert to be a fun and relaxing time in which our audience will be entertained and see the hard work which has been poured into this year,” choir teacher Nikki Hanson said.

To help with vocalization, the students have learned several vocal exercises which help students increase their ranges, as well as help with enunciation and ear training.

”We start each class with these to help the students,” Hanson said.

There will be a variety of soloists throughout the night, with some of the seniors getting the chance to perform at their last high school concert.

”Luke Hanson and Hailee Sawyer will be performing for the audience,” Hanson said. “Elizabeth Johns will be leading out on a ‘What a Wonderful World’ solo, which will be performed by the Pop Choir.”

The students who performed in the UIL Competition Choir will sing their competition pieces, which received Superior Ratings from each judge at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Competition in April. The Tenor/Bass Choir will sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. The Treble Choir will be singing a selection from the musical, “Rent.” At the end of the concert, all of the different choirs will be combined to sing a musical selection from the new release of “The Greatest Showman.”
