Home is where your mom is

Krislynn Tapley, Writer

To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power or the climbing colors of a rainbow. She is very beautiful, compassionate, funny, unselfish, nurturing, strong, and loving. Her beautiful face has shone so pure and peaceful above my head through all of my life. The light green eyes, the lavish short hair, the smiles, the silky smooth skin all blend serenely to form a loving mother. Even though I have seen many beautiful people, no lady has matched the beauty of my mother.

She has not only worked hard to ensure that I have a good upbringing, but is also very strict and I often get punished whenever I do wrong. Even though I do not always like the punishments, I often look back and realize that it was meant to solely correct me and help me to follow the right path. Everything that I am, my mother has helped me to be.

One of the reasons my siblings and I are especially fond of my mother is the way she takes great care of us, especially when we are ill. She is a very knowledgeable woman. Her motherly love also extends to our dog, Annie. My mom always checks on her and gives her a treat whenever she looks sick.

My siblings and I do not like to see our mom sad and will do just about anything to bring a smile to her face. Even when she is very worried or sad about something, she will always smile to make us stop worrying about her. My mother not only loves those around her, but is also sympathetic. We often observe her compassion towards her friends, especially when they are going through a hard time. My mother sacrifices her time to go comfort her friends with long talks and understanding smiles that instantly make them feel appreciated.

My mother is a terrific cook who always leaves us looking forward to the next meal. She knows how to mix the right ingredients to end up with a meal that often leaves us licking the plate or bowl. Sometimes if there is not enough food for all five of us, she will give up her ration in order to feed us. I would sometimes offer her the dinner on my plate, but she would politely turn down my offer and ensure me that she was okay.

She is not only my mother, but she is also one of my greatest friends. She always goes above and beyond to sacrifice her well being for mine. With every passing day, I never forget to thank God for blessing me and putting me in the hands of such a tenderhearted woman.
