LCM hosted an assembly last Thursday called The Winning Edge, which is a local non-profit group made up of everyday people and business people who want to impact students in a positive way.

The Winning Edge impacts students by providing professional athletes to share their story in how positivity lead them to success.

During the assembly, Big James Henderson spoke to the student body about his experiences dealing with peer pressure and being able to stand up to others.

The Winning Edge has visited LCM for the past six years and Cal Smith, the owner of McLeod Machine Works, was one of the original co-sponsors. The organization was originally named The Golden Triangle Champions for Life, but changed to Winning Edge two years ago. The program originally started visiting the high school and then began a rotation between the junior high and elementary schools.

“LCM students have always responded very positively to the program,” Stacey Brister said. “The athletes that speak to students have always been great! I believe if the program helps even one student overcome difficulties and make right choices is worth the time!”
