Tuesday night’s match-up between the LCM Bears and the PNG Indians got off to a rocky start with several starters in foul trouble, but senior Isaiah Reagins stepped up and helped lead the team to a 44-43 victory.

Reagins came off the bench early in the first quarter and dominated the paint, finishing the game with 11 points and nine rebounds. He said he focused on getting the job done and learning how to seal a win in a close game.

“I think I did my job,” Reagins said. “(It’s) something to be proud of.”

Every new season brings new challenges and according to Reagins, one the team must overcome this year is size, height-wise.

“Having such a small team is one of the biggest challenges this season so rebounding is a must,” Reagins said.

Reagins has been playing basketball for a total of five years and every day he practices for two and a half hours, focusing on defensive and rebounding drills. For this senior, basketball is something he has grown to love and his favorite memory on the court dates all the back to when he was in middle school.

“We played Orangefield and we won because my friend, Andrew hit a buzzer beater to win the game,” he said.
