Anime Club – A place where you connect with other people with the same interests as you. You will never feel left out.

Anime Club is sponsored by Katrina Owen and she watches over the 23 students who come to watch anime and have fun every Thursday. Then on the last Thursday of every month, they have a “movie night” where they bring food and drinks, and watch an anime movie picked by the members of the club. Both the meetings, and the movie nights are held in Owen’s room.

“Being a teacher has always been my dream, but being the sponsor of the anime club is something more,” Owen said. ”It’s having a family that grows, loves, and protects each other. It is one of my greatest honors to be their sponsor.”

Owen describes the anime club students as energetic, loquacious, passionate, creative, and devoted. Some of the students like anime club because they get to watch anime that they might not be able to find. They get to connect to other people, and it is a big rule that no insults to another club member is allowed.

“My favorite thing about anime club is that it breaks me out of my shell,” Junior Camrin Longmire said.

The officers are President Ciarra Kendall, Vice President Garson Day, Treasurer Kaylee Peveto, and Secretary Meagan Mathews. According to Mathews being secretary is a great experience for practicing leadership.

“The atmosphere is great and I am always left with the obstinate urge to come back every year because of how great it is,” Mathews said.
