“Prayer is a powerful weapon,” read the banners and movie posters for the newly released “War Room.” This film is one that supports the idea of prayer as a vital part of everyone’s life. In the story, real estate agent, mother and wife Elizabeth Jordan (Priscilla Shirer) struggles in her walk with God, and therefore with her relationship with her family. She and her husband Tony (T.C. Stallings) argue daily, he works more than he spends time with his family, and she knows nothing about her young daughter Danielle (Alena Pitts). Her new client, Miss Clara (Karen Abercrombie), teaches her about praying for every area of her life individually, and as they meet more regularly, Elizabeth’s life begins to transform.

Throughout the movie, the viewer is able to gain a sense of understanding. Seeing a family’s personal struggles helps people to understand that their journey with God isn’t easy, and sometimes one can think he or she is closer to God than they actually are. Elizabeth has her own struggles separate from her family, but they all affect that aspect of her life, and seeing how she handles it is surprising, but refreshing. Whereas most people would give up and stop trying, she perseveres, keeps praying, and ends up renewing every relationship of hers.

There were little to no cons about this movie. The pros were the comedic value (everyone in the theatre was laughing for about 50 percent of the movie), the family value (renewing broken ties), and the intense and thematic value of faith. The most important part of this film is the message to have faith.
