Kimberly Scott is home again. After three years of teaching at West Orange-Stark High School, she has returned to LCM, her alma mater. Scott returned to tackle the responsibility of teaching Math Models, Algebra II, and also switched from sponsoring the Fillies Drill Team to the Honey Bears. Scott is no stranger to the school, having grown up in the district.
“The LCM community is home to me,” she said.
Scott has plenty of experience when it comes to dancing, as she was a member of Lorna Badon’s School of Fine Arts for 15 years and was a member of the Orange Jazz Company for three years. She is a former Honey Bear captain.
“I’ve always wanted to come back as a director,” Scott said.
Serving as a Honey Bear director takes a lot of dedication and free time and Scott knows this and is well prepared to do the job.
“We worked several weeks this summer to prepare and we practice each day after school,” Scott said.
As a new teacher, she has discovered many changes within the school.
“When I arrived this year, the construction was a little daunting, but we will make it,” Scott said.
She has plenty of outstanding goals this school year and wants to prepare her students for the next step in life, education, and their future careers.
“As a teacher, I am hoping to establish a relationship with my students,” Scott said. As a director, she wants to implement a few changes in how the Honey Bears operate.
“I want to put on some fabulous halftime shows, and grow our team size for next year,” Scott said.
