‘Fast and Furious 7’ is Final Tribute to Paul Walker
May 3, 2015
I recently had the pleasure of going to watch the new thrilling addition to the Fast and Furious franchise known as Furious 7. The movie was the usual fast cars, explosions, and attractive women, but one thing that really made this movie different from the others is the fact that it was an unofficial goodbye to one of the main actors, Paul Walker.
It starts off with Dom and Letty racing towards an event in the middle of the desert. Letty, having lost her memory, does not remember that she and Dom started the annual racing event. She gets emotional and drives off to her grave, that was placed there when everyone believed she was dead. While all of this is happening, it shows Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) driving his child to school in a minivan. Brian feels as if he is missing something, because he went from a cut-throat, high stakes atmosphere, to the stay at home dad whose biggest worry is wondering if he ran out of diapers.
The main antagonist, Ian Shaw, is a highly-skilled and trained former assassin, who is out for blood against Dom and Brian’s crew. He hunts and kills one of the members, and that brings awareness to the rest of the members of the crew. They come up with a plan to work together with the U.S. Government to bring down Shaw. Their plan involves rescuing an expert hacker that has something vital to the capture of Shaw. They end up rescuing the hacker, known as Ramsey. The hacker confesses that she had to get rid of the device her kidnappers wanted, so she sold it to a billionaire who is obsessed with his exotic sports car.
The crew, along with the hacker, break into the young billionaire’s party, and with a lot of mistakes made, they barely make it out in one piece. Now that they have the device, the hunt for Shaw begins. It all leads up to a final fight in a highly populated city with explosions, unrealistic destruction where the main character comes out barely harmed, and someone who comes in to save the day just as the good guys are about to lose. They end up incarcerating Shaw and Brian, along with his family, and move out of the U.S. to somewhere near an exotic beach.
The movie ends with an emotional final goodbye to Brian, with Dom talking about how he will always be with him, and that he was his brother. At the end of the movie, the final words on the screen are “For Paul.”
Ignoring all the unrealistic action scenes, the movie is incredible and is definitely worth money and time to go and watch. “Furious 7” will probably be known as one of the most exciting movies and definitely the best in the franchise.
