Softball Camp to be held on Saturday
The annual LCM Girls Softball Kids camp will be held Saturday at the LCM softball fields from 1-4 p.m. According to head coach Dena Adkins, the camp is a good opportunity for girls from the age of six to twelve to learn about the game and an opportunity for the Lady Bears to develop their skills.
“It’s a fun time for any aspiring player,” Adkins said, “We keep the camp moving from drill to drill and throw in some fun games.”
The camp will cost $25 and the profit will go to the Lady Bear softball team. It will help them with equipment and travel expenses. All of the Lady Bears will be helping with the camp, along with Adkins and her two assistants.
“I love working this camp because I get to teach others what I love to do,” sophomore Garney Doucette said, “It may be the start of their love for the game.”
The camp will teach young girls many things, such as hitting fundamentals, throwing, fielding, and base running.
“The really young ones will learn just the basics and for the older ones they will get a chance to become better at what they already know,” Adkins said.
The camp is a fun time for all as it has been for the past fives years since it was started. Adkins and her players look forward to the camp every year.
