The Bear Stage Players will perform the Greek morality play titled “Everyman” at district competition this Saturday, March 1 at Lamar University at 12 p.m.
All-day admission is $5 to see all six schools in the district perform. Show times are the following: WOS at 11 a.m., LCM at 12 p.m., Silsbee at 1 p.m., Vidor at 2 p.m., Bridge City at 3:30 p.m., and Lumberton at 4:30 p.m.
The story of “Everyman” follows the character Everyman, who symbolically stands for every person on earth. In the play, God demands Everyman to go on a journey of reckoning in hopes to absolve the world of greed and unkindness. Everyman faces death itself and must come to terms with her mortality before it’s too late. Audience members will ask themselves questions such as: Will she face this hardship alone? What must she do to seek forgiveness for her greed and depravity?
The performances are intended for a mature audience, and it is advised to leave younger children at home.
