Lady Bear Basketball has gotten off to a winning start this season. Senior Keylie Washburn has helped lead the team to victory and gave an inside look at the Lady Bears’ goals for this season.
Q: How is the season going so far?
A: We have had a great start. So far, we are looking great this upcoming year.
Q: What are your goals for the season?
A: My goals are to try to get a district championship. Also, to go far in playoffs this year.
Q: How do you feel about this year’s team?
A: Last year we were young, but this year we have more experience on the team. I feel very hopeful on going far this year.
Q: What are the strengths of this year’s team?
A: Experience, our offensive has been good, have the strength to not back down, and can be aggressive.
Q: How are you preparing for the upcoming games and tournaments?
A: By putting in the work to get better, staying focused on my goals, taking it one game at a time.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge for this season is?
A: My biggest challenge is having to bring my best every game and to not foul so much.
Q: How has the team excelled since last year?
A: Well for starters, we have started the season off undefeated so far. The team has improved on confidence and skill this year.
Q: What are you most excited about this upcoming season?
A: Tournaments, team dinners, district play, and playoffs, also senior night.
Q: Who is your most difficult team to play?
A: I think this upcoming season our hardest teams to play will be Silsbee, Bridge City, and Lumberton.
Q: What is your record?
A: Right now, our record for this season is 9-0.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
A: I am excited to play my final season of basketball with this team and Coach Wiley.
I am really having fun this season and I am going to miss LCM basketball a lot.
