Choir to Perform on Thursday
This Thursday, the choir will hold a concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium for family, friends and faculty.
Pop choir will be performing a mash up of “Rumor Has It” and “Someone Like You” by Adele, “Firework” by Katy Perry and “Hallelujah” from the famous film “Shrek.” For the Adele mash up, the choir students have been working non-stop creating and teaching choreography.
The Chamber choir will be singing the competition music they performed at the Concert and Sight-reading contest, which they scored ones on. The following pieces will be performed acapella: “Follow the River,” “Fair Phyllis” and “Throw Open the Shutters.”
Chamber Choir member Abby Turner has enjoyed preparing for this concert, all the while making final memories of her choir days.
“I’ve made a lot of friendships in the process and have had so much fun performing with my friends beside me,” she said.
Seniors Josh Weaver, Peyton Croaker and DeNaye Hutchinson and junior Abby Turner will all perform solos throughout the concert.
“I’ve been working effortlessly to make this concert the best that it can be,” Weaver said. “We all have a lot of potential and I want us to show our family and friends our talent.”
“Great God Almighty” will be sung by all the choirs combined and as a highlight to the evening, the seniors will perform “Photograph” by Nickelback.
For many of the seniors, this concert is bittersweet because it’s a form of closure to their high school singing careers.
“Music has always been a big part of my life,” Hutchinson said. “This year I have never grown more musically.”
