Juniors Clay Darby and Colt Dryden are a big part of Friday nights, even though they are not playing on the football field. They were nominated for Bear of the Week by activities director Stacey Smith for their help putting up and taking down the inflatable bear and the horn at the home football games.
Darby is involved in baseball and then works outside of a normal school day. He said his biggest role model is his PeePaw.
“He is an amazing person,” Darby said.
Darby’s hobbies are going to work, riding his dirt bikes, fishing, and hunting. His goals for the future are to work in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. He feels that his work ethic is his greatest accomplishment.
Darby’s favorite class this year is welding because of how hands-on it is. His favorite part about going to LCM is seeing his friends, and he is motivated by wanting to be successful one day.
Dryden plays football and soccer at school, and outside of school he goes to work and church. His biggest role models are his father and grandparents, and his favorite hobbies are golf and work.
His goals for the future are to go to college, then get a job that makes good money. Dryden said his greatest accomplishment was sinking a 40-foot putt.
His favorite class this year is aerospace engineering with Mr. Collier.
“Making different types of planes in projects are very cool,” Dryden said.
Dryden’s favorite part of LCM is having classes with his friends.
“They voluntarily take care of the horn set up, take down, and throughout the game,” Smith said about Darby and Dryden. “Clay even does some general maintenance to keep the wheels aired up. He and Colt are also regulars on cafeteria clean up when others are jerks and leave their stuff. They are all-around good boys!”
