Four students have qualified to compete at the State UIL meet in May after competing at the 4A Region III meet held in Nacogdoches this weekend.
Senior Rayna Christy qualified for State in Copy Editing (3rd place), News Writing (2nd place), Feature Writing (1st place), and Headline Writing (1st place). She also placed 5th in Editorial Writing.
Senior Gabrielle Moore qualified for State in News Writing (1st place), Feature Writing (2nd place), and Editorial Writing (2nd place). She also placed 6th in Copy Editing and 4th in Headline Writing.
Senior Camille Kelly qualified for State in Editorial Writing (1st place). She also placed 6th in Feature Writing.
Junior Raymond Arrington qualified for State in Computer Science (1st place). Andy Qi placed 5th and Jessica Allen placed 6th.
The Journalism team placed first overall, with a total of 128 points earned for LCM. The Computer Science team (Raymond Arrington, Andy Qi, Jessica Allen, Marshall Vaught) placed second overall and is the alternate to State.
Sophomore Andy Qi placed 6th in Number Sense.
LCM finished second overall out of 50 schools, with a total of 183 points earned at the meet.
The four students who qualified for State will compete in Austin on May 14.
