Norah LeBlanc is a senior who is heavily engaged in many aspects of student life. She is involved in Interact, National Honor Society, UIL spelling, and she is the president of FFA (Future Farmers of America). LeBlanc is also a part of the veterinary science program in which she has an internship to become a certified veterinary assistant at the end of the year.
LeBlanc takes an active role in her community by being a part of her church’s audio-visual team where she works on a computer to display the verses and words on screen. She is dedicated to her school life, but she also finds joy and comfort in things outside of a grueling schedule.
“Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, painting, going to the gym, going to church and youth group,” LeBlanc said.
LeBlanc is a person with many big goals and a bright future ahead of her.
“Some of my goals include going to Texas A&M veterinary school to become a veterinarian for dogs, cats and exotics,” LeBlanc said. “Also, I want to open a clinic in Mauriceville and own a bunch of land so I can have all kinds of animals.’’
LeBlanc said her biggest inspiration is someone close to her heart, her grandmother.
“She is the kindest, humblest, and most thoughtful person I know,” LeBlanc said. “I want to be just like her one day. She has the funniest sense of humor and everyone who meets her loves her.”
LeBlanc’s favorite quote is: “I hope to make people realize how helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child must that we will be kind and take care of their needs.” –James Herriot
“I love this quote so much because Herriot is trying to show everyone that animals need to be taken care of with love and utmost care,” LeBlanc said.
According to LeBlanc, her dream and what she has worked for in high school is what motivates her.
“What motivates me most is my dream of going to vet school,” LeBlanc said. “I know that to be admitted I must have exceptionally good grades and be involved in a lot of extracurriculars and get a lot of hours too.”
With all of LeBlanc’s achievements, there is a lot to be proud of herself for but one of those accomplishments stands out to her.
“I am proud of getting into the National Honor Society and I am also proud of getting sponsored and chosen to attend RYLA last year,” LeBlanc said. “It’s a big deal because it got me out of my comfort zone, and it taught me a lot about leadership and meeting new people.”
LeBlanc said her favorite class this year is one that she has heavily involved herself in.
“My favorite class this year is my vet science class with Mr. Coleman,” LeBlanc said. “I love having a class all about animals and learning skills. And information that will help me in the future. I appreciate everything Mr. Coleman does for us and how funny he is.”
LeBlanc is aware that she comes across as quiet in school, but with friends and family, she is the life of the party.
“I may be quiet at school, but when I am with friends and family, I can be the loudest in the group,” she said.
According to LeBlanc’s vet science teacher Nicholas Coleman, she is one of the kindest young ladies he has had the privilege of working with in his 20-plus years of working with students.
“She is friendly, compassionate, and self-less,” Coleman said. “Another thing that sets Norah apart from many of her peers is her work ethic. She has worked diligently through the summer and the school year to prepare herself not only to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant, but also to continue to chase after her dream of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.”
LeBlanc’s chemistry teacher, Jane Dunn, said she is an excellent student and more than anything, she is dependable.
“She is one I can count on to always have her notes and assignments up to date,” Dunn said. “Norah is more than willing to help me or any student in class who has been absent and needs her help. I appreciate the quiet, sweet, and courteous woman she is in my class. I wish I could clone her!”
