OJC Works Toward Annual Concert
The Orange Jazz Company Concert – Rock of Ages will be April 26 at the Lutcher Theatre. According to junior Sophie Braud, the Company has been preparing since July 2013 and has been getting the word out by hanging posters around town. All OJC members are currently selling tickets priced at $10 for adults and $8 for students.
The girls have been preparing for this concert through a lot of hard work and dedication, taking much time out of their busy days to practice and critique.
“I am very excited,” sophomore Brooke Manuel said. “It is a great experience and dancing is such a big part of my life that it makes me more excited to share all of the hard work.”
Most of the members have been taking dance for over 13 years and been apart of Lorna Badon School of Fine Arts. According to Braud, she attends dance every day of the week except for Wednesday, ranging from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and occasionally on Saturdays and Sundays.
“(Being apart of OJC is) a lot of hard work,” Braud said. “You definitely have to be dedicated to dance to be apart of the company, because we are rehearsing every day.”
The OJC girls have become a support group for each other and because they have spent so much time together they have gotten closer through this.
“It’s like having a second family to laugh with and work hard together,” Manuel said. “We all push each other to be the best we can be.”
Lorna Badon and the girls hope for a great turnout and a night full of amazement from the crowd, along with showing all the preparation that has gone into the making of this year’s show.
“We’ve been working so hard and really want to show people what we’ve been up yo behind-the-scenes,” Braud said.
