Every year, LCM Interact hosts a semiformal dance in January called winter formal. The cafeteria is transformed into a dance floor for one night, and one night only. That night is set for Jan. 13, starting at 8:30 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m.
Tickets can be bought in the nurse’s office, and prices vary depending on the day students go. They are on sale for $15 until next Tuesday, when they go up to $20. On Jan. 8, prices go up to $25, and LCM students can buy tickets at the door for $30 the night of.
Any student wishing to bring a guest can fill out a guest form from the nurse and get it signed by the principal. Guests must be between 9th grade and 20 years old to come.
All students must follow certain rules for the night’s dress code. For girls, these include a minimum fingertip length including slits, no more than one inch of midriff exposure in two-piece dresses, and no full-length dresses. For boys, they must be nicely dressed with no shorts.
“We work hard to try and provide inclusive opportunities for our students to make their high school years more memorable while raising money to support worthy causes,” Interact sponsor and nurse Jeannie Alexander said. “This event is a huge undertaking, but the payoff is getting to see our kids have a great time dancing, taking pictures, and enjoying the night. It is our biggest fundraiser, and we will be deciding soon what organization we will donate the proceeds to. It will be a blessing to whoever we choose, and we can’t do it without the support of our students and staff.”
